I just gave away this television b/c I bought a new 42" Lg but I did own this TV for a year. It is solid...a great picture, easy setup, and nice looking (silver, when most are black now). I only gave it away when I bought the bigger screen. Of course, this is a 720p television and there IS a big difference to the 1080p TV I now own but still, this Panasonic delivered.

I was in the hunt for a lcd tv to my liking....with the uprising of hd television on movies....I wanted to test the market on it...and I didn't want to go the 'Sony' route so to speak....though other brands are good ie: 'Sharp', 'Samsung' to name a few....I went to Radio Shack and they had this tv with a LG model...at first the LG look great. A friend of mine who works there told me LG looks great but in true hd detail Panasonic is better. He was right...I bought one and never look back. I've had this tv for almost 8 months and upgraded to hd cable and wow what a difference! I bought a dvd upconverter and my dvds with the hdmi look great! I will eventually buy another one Panasonic upgraded with the tc-32lx70 with better results......

I recently purchased this new Panasonic LCD TV after doing some research. I've been very happy with the performance of the TV but the only thing Panasonic left out was an addition to make it easier to attach this as a secondary monitor for a computer. I am an American Service member serving a remote tour overseas and have a small monitor attached to my computer. I thought and this was an oversight on my part that it would be easy to adapt this TV as a larger or second monitor for my computer. To make it nicer to see my family via my video cam attached to my computer. Alas, I have not found a way to view my computer on this TV. Other than that, it was a solid purchase and panasonic has made me impressed.

This is an excellent deal no matter which way you look at it. For $465 with free shipping (Prime member) and no tax, this one is a no-brainer.
The picture is sharp - maybe not as sharp as its more expensive big brothers, but sharp enough for any casual TV viewer. Be sure to find the right picture format for your purposes (I like "justified", although others with weaker eyesight might like "zoom", while others may prefer the wide angle if they are avid HD video fans. There are enough picture features to adjust it to your liking, including extensive color settings and more. And to top it all, it's just plain easy to adjust using the included remote.
One caveat: you may find the maximum volume setting a bit low when you first plug it in, and you might even turn the volume up to 100% or so in bigger rooms. But there is an easy fix: go into menu, then audio settings, and adjust the base audio level to max, then when you go back to your remote you'll find you have enough volume/headroom to enjoy any movie with plenty to spare. I don't need a 2.1 or 3.1 speaker system; it's sound is good as it is. I'm an audiophile, but I just don't see the need to spend money on an extra speaker system to match up with this inexpensive, but good, TV.
Assembly? What assembly. The only thing you need to assemble is the stand, which consists of four screws. Easy peasy.
This baby is plug and play - I had it up and running in under 15 minutes. It features a very intuitive settings format.
All in all, a great product at a ridiculous price. Highly recommended. If you just want a no frills LCD TV with HD, and you don't plan to build a screening room or theater, this is the ticket. Get them while they last!

Hey, just a word of warning about SAMSUNG and SONY,
Read several reviews of SAMSUNG LCDs and you will find that yes they have a gorgeous picture, but they often STOP WORKING within a year or two, and the reviews report that their CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE.
I have read some reviews for comparable SONY LCDs again a somewhat decent product but many have complained of EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES.
Panasonic on the other hand has a great reputation for CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I am planning on buying this TV for my Mom for her bedroom.
I have a Panasonic 46" Plasma and I LOVE IT. BTW THE BEST PLASMA ON THE MARKET NOW THAT PIONEER IS DEAD.

I recently purchased 3 different 32 inch LCDs. The first was a Samsung LN32B360C5D. Its a 32 inch 720p LCD with a 60hz refresh rate. After seeing a friends LCD with a 120hz I was hooked and quickly took mine back to best buy to upgrade to the 1080p 120hz Samsung LN32B640. Now this was a gorgeous LCD! Absolutely stunning. So good in fact that watching regular DVD through a blu ray player on this LCD was... AWESOME!! I was sold on 120hz rate even more. Old DVD after old DVD was brought back to life with an amazing 3D quality that was outstanding. But the price for this unite was 800. Almost double what I paid for my original Samsung.
SO... After watching both LCDs... one at 720p and the other at 1080p I decided that it was not the HD quality but the extra hz rate (120hz) that did the trick. Dont get me wrong. 1080p is better than 720p even at 32 inch. Marginal but the sharpness is with out a doubt there. So I decided that I could do without the 1080p as long as I could get the 120hz and maybe save a few bucks. Which led me to this LCD.

Is the picture as good as either of the Samsungs. NO. Definitely not. The 120hz works well with Blu Ray movies but not on regular DVDs like the 1080p Samsung. This has disappointed me the most. I know a lot of people out there dont like what this refresh rate does to film, or better yet how it makes film look like a soap oprea. Myself I LOVE IT. Think its just great. Gives older movies a new lease on life! This LCDs 120hz though just doesnt cut it. In fact it doesnt seem to work at all?!! I dont understand why but you dont get the depth that you get with the Samsung at all that also has the 120hz. I watched the same movies on both TVs through the same DVD player and the Panasonic sucks compared to the Samsung. No other way to put really, sorry. If someone knows something I dont PLEASE inform me.
For you out there that dont care about 120hz but want a 32 inch LCD. Go for the Samsung LN32B360C5D. Great picture... much better than this Panasonic model. Those of you that want a 32 LCD with 120hz. Well if you can afford the extra money again grab the other Samsung LN32B640. You will not be disappointed. If you are like me and am restricted by your budget... This will have to do. Plus it isnt as easy to return stuff you buy through Amazon as it is with Best Buy. I cant be bothered to box up a 3rd TV in less than a month and then pay for the shipping fees. Hope this helps.

Great TV - perfect in our small living room. I can finally see the actual writing on the sports scores! MUCH clearer than the Panasonic lower line.
Also, Amazon beat *everyone* else's price by $250 - $500 here including free shipping, $750 the cheapest elsewhere. The locals who promised to beat anyone's price wouldn't touch it!!

I bought this TV in Christmas '08 for my wife for use in our Master Bedroom. After a year, I have nothing but good things to say.
I did a pretty good bit of research on this product, having owned a Panasonic 42" plasma prior to this. I got it in conjunction with another Panasonic 37" LCD for Christmas, and both are spectacular. The hue/green tone problems mentioned in the "most helpful negative review" just don't play out with our TV. The colors pop, the screen is bright, and the sound is very good. If I was sitting 3 inches from the TV with high-tech color calibration gadgets, could I uncover some imperfection? I suppose so.. but would it matter?
For everyday use, this TV delivers a crystal-clear image that is light-years above the CRTs of recent memory. If you have a nice source (such as DirecTV HD boxes), a TV this size looks great in 720p. There's just no need for 1080p unless you're getting above 37" - 42". For the price listed now, it's a steal. I spent about $300 more just a year ago.
Overall, another first-rate TV from Panasonic.

i bought this from a seller i found on amazon at christmas time and i dealt with them directly. i got this for $536.00 over two months ago after much research with no tax and free shipping. it showed up at my door 2 days later. i bought this for my bedroom and it's been played a lot! i could'nt be happier with it! the picture is stunning! a clear, crisp and sharp picture! the contrast ratio is only 10,000-1 so it looks better as the day wears on but i'm telling you the picture and clarity is first rate! you only need 720p for a hdtv 32" or smaller so my requirments when deciding on a bedroom tv were: 32", the $500.00 price range, a name brand, the best overall tv possible at the best price and a high energy star rating because i sleep with it on all night. after looking at sony,samsung,toshiba and others i decided on this one. panasonic has been building quality tv's for 50 years and this set proves it and it has the highest energy star rating in it's class. even the sound is good, not as deep and rich sounding as the 46" $3,000.00 hd/lcd samsung in my front room but for a $536.00 32" lcd/tv pretty damn good!.........p.s. for your living room hdtv you would want a 25,000-1 contast ratio or more for viewing in all kinds of light. my samsung is 25,000 - 1 and it looks great morning, noon and night in any kind of light!............update 6/21/09...........after 6 months of ownership i couldn't be happier with this unit! has met and exceeded all my expectations. good job panasonic!

I set out to get the best 46" LCD that I could get at the best possible price. After a lot of reading reviews online and visiting 5 stores and comparing all their LCDs, I narrowed in on Samsung LN46B640 (sure the 650 and 750 were better, but not at the price being asked for). Compared this model with Sony's V, W and XBR series as well. Just when I was ready to take this set home, a representative from a store alerted me to the performance of the plasma sets (he was not aware of my budget, likes/dislikes and my decision to get the specific LCD). Plasma? Are they not dead? Is the new thing not about LCDs and LEDs? Sure it is and they are just as great. However I now spent 5 hours in 1 hour sessions to compare a plasma set - Panasonic TC-P46S1 with my favorite LCD TV Samsung LN46B640. After looking at 5 different feeds (TV source material/channels) in 5 different stores, I was convinced that the Plasma set performed a little better and provided better color accuracy. Dark and natural green on plasma against Neon green on LCD. Snow on mountains was natural on plasma compared to a Clorox white on LCD. The LCD was indeed good and provided a little better clarity but colors on Plasma were natural. I even changed the settings on the LCD to bring to the same color accuracy of the plasma but could not. LCD presented what I wanted to see, while the plasma set presented it more close to the natural color. On a dark background, the plasma offered colors that popped, while the same colors on the LCD faded. I compared this with the 640, 650, 750 and Sony TVs I mentioned. You will find many websites that tell you that burn-in problem on Plasma is no longer an issue and power consumption gap has also been narrowed down. For my usage power consumption was not a factor. Life of the set is also not an issue any more. Dynamic Contrast ratio and refresh rates, the two most talked about measurements are as follows for the ones I looked at; Plasma: 2 Million:1 and 640 hertz, LCD: 80K:1 and 120hz. Again Dynamic Contrast ratio is very subjective term and you should trust your judgment when comparing models. Its only recently that the LCD sets are catching up to the plasma on the two specs, while the plasma is catching up with the LCD on the power consumption spec. Before you get carried away with these terms, see how it matters to your viewing. In the end, I purchased the Panasonic TC-P46S1 at $200 less than the LCD. However I would not have thought twice if I had to pay the same price for the plasma as the LCD. Reason behind writing this is, do not take any technology for what is being churned out by the marketing machines, media and the hype. Trust your eyes and experience only. If you are reading this, you are reviewing one of the models I had short listed. I am sure whatever you buy will be the best model and in the end your own considered decision. Good Luck.

I've been waiting for over a year to buy a new flat panel TV, and finally decided on this set based on reviews and great price. The price dropped below $1,000 and they were offering a free BD player, I couldn't resist. Unfortunately, when the set arrived it did not work. There was sound, along with a loud buzz, but no picture. So, I declined shipment and called Amazon customer service. As they are now out of stock on this TV, and apparently have no plans on ordering any more, I was provided a refund and will have to choose another model. I'm sure it would have been a great TV, had it only worked!

Great TV at a great price. The picture quality is awesome, I replaced a Sharp Aquos LCD and felt like the Panasonic was a step up in quality. I have had the set for three weeks now and have not noticed any heat issues what so ever. I increased the sharpness from the factory settings and toned down the colors some and I am very satisfied with the overall picture quality. Sporting events look great! This plasma is the way to go for sports fans! No doubt. I have my sound via my home theater system so I can not say i use the TV's speakers. Amazon delivered fast (one business day later than they promised) with great service. I highly recommend this TV, you will not be disappointed. A.

If you have been reading reviews on dozens of different televisions like I did before I bought this baby, you can stop after reading this one because I assure you that you will have no regrets about buying this tv. Don't be scared by the plasma naysayers regarding image retention and burn in. I have played 4-5 hours straight of call of duty on this sucker with no trace of image retention. Just make sure you break it in for the first 100 hours with full screen HD channels only or with slides that you can download off the av forum. Bottom line is this tv rocks. Blue Ray looks amazing. Sports in HD are incredible. I don't know why anyone would go to the game in person because you can see it for free in your home and see more of the action. You will want to get a plasma screen cleaner for this one though because fingerprints do leave their mark on the screen when you are setting it up. I have mine mounted on a stand I picked up at Target for $200 and it works fine. Panasonic is a good quality manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about buying this tv. It should last for many years and I don't think you will be disappointed.

The Panasonic V10 50" is just awesome. This was my first HD tv so maybe I'm easy to impress, but all the reviews ([...] and Amazon) agreed that this is an incredible plasma tv. My concern about everyone's advice saying that LCD's may be better for a bright room had me a little worried about choosing a plasma. But after having it for a little over a month now, it's been great. Glare has not been a problem at all. I have it set up next to a wall with windows - only slight glare if trying to watch with full sun through the window. I purchased through Electronics Experience (~$1,700), for a great price and they proved very reliable sellers.

I spent forever researching my first big screen TV. I finally settled on this one because, first, I really wanted a plasma because motion blur really drives me nuts. At 240 Hz refresh, I'm sure the newer LCDs are better but I still like the plasma. Secondly, I bought this one for its ability to process all the latest and greatest video and audio and interface with my computer and 'net. In other-words, I thought this on had the best shot of keeping up with technology as long as possible.
The picture quality is fine. I do not necessarily notice the color distortion spoken of in the reviews although I have not yet viewed a BluRay but I have downloaded HD movies and played them. I am somewhere between an casual viewer and a videophile. The connectivity is great; I am using all HDMI and Digital Optical (buy these through Amazon - the local stores charge and arm and a leg!) The menus are easy to use and the set up was pretty easy. The antireflection coating works quite well IMO. I have only one complaint but this is probably universal with antireflection coated screens; that coating is DELICATE. I managed to scratch mine and a replacement glass is $930 + shipping and install and its not currently available anyway. So Be Careful! The audio through the TV is OK for internal speakers.
Overall I am very happy with this TV and recommend it highly.

I've owned the TV for about a week and a half now and I can't wait any longer to write a review. The bottom line is that the picture quality looks absolutely amazing out of the box. HD content looks absolutely incredible. I'd give it six stars if it streamed Netflix (or maybe even if VieraCast had another interesting option) and if it looked a little sharper on Standard Definition content (oh, yeah, and if Amazon let me give it six stars :-). But at the end of the day, if you're dropping this kind of money on a TV, you probably have a Blu Ray player and HD cable and you're going to be blown away by the experience. And I do mean experience -- because watching high definition content on this TV is tantamount to a religious experience.
Let me first mention that this is not the TV that I wanted. I wanted the Samsung PN50B860. It is less expensive, it has better streaming options (important for me because I only have Internet service, no cable TV) and it looks a hell of a lot cooler. But I couldn't get past one review after another that lamented the horrible buzz of the Samsungs and the fact that every independent comparison that I read more or less said that the Samsung's picture quality was not quite awesome and that this TV was more or less the 2009 king of HDTV. After spending a good deal of time sifting through reviews and staring at screens in the electronics stores, I couldn't get away from the fact that the picture on the Panasonic TC-P50V10 was not disputed. No one claimed it was less than the best. I should say that I think the styling on this TV is almost downright ugly. It doesn't hold a candle to the way the Samsung looks. The "one sheet of glass" thing doesn't do it for me at all. But, my girlfriend gave me the push I needed when she asked me one rhetorical question: Which is going to matter more -- the way it looks when it is turned off, or the way it looks when it's turned on? Sold.
As I don't have cable television or a Blu-Ray player, my first move was to use VieraCast to watch an HD movie or two (or 7 or 8) via Amazon on Demand. Contrary to the one negative review on here, I found the content to load quickly and the menus to be simple to navigate. I may suggest some changes on Amazon's end -- but nothing I would change on Panasonic's end. I take that back -- there are TWO things I would change on Panasonic's end. The reason I just decided to change "ease of use" to 4 stars is because of the fact that they grey out some menu options in some playback modes. Why is there not a timer available when the TV is in VieraCast mode?!?? I really want to speed up this first 100 or 200 hour break-in period and it would be really helpful if I could rent a movie and leave it to play and use a timer so it will go off. I'd also like to be able to fall asleep watching a movie now and then as this TV is currently in my bedroom. That is probably my only major complaint about this TV. But that problem is likely not something that will concern most people thinking about buying this set. The other small grievance I have is that when you spend almost seveteen hundred smackers on a TV, can't it just come wireless out of the box? I still haven't picked up a wireless access point, so I'm running a stupid ethernet cable up the wall and upstairs to where the TV is. Dumb. But in no way a dealbreaker.
More importantly -- picture quality is absolutely superb. I don't know if I can say enough about it. When I first looked at TVs in a store, the pop of the colors on an LED screen looked really cool to me. Once someone pointed out the terrible exaggeration of the colors (blue smoke coming from a volcano....and pink lava), I realized that the constant brightness might get old after a while. Now that I have this TV, I absolutely realize that this was a correct analysis. I like looking at a bright LCD in the store....but you absolutely can not beat the cinematic quality of the picture on this screen. The colors are rich and deep and it gives a depth to the picture that you just won't get if the screen is blinding you with light. I actually feel like I'm in a movie theater when I watch this television....and personally, I don't think you can beat having a movie theater experience at home. I literally order snowcaps by the case here in Amazon and I can sit at home and feel like a king watching this set. And that is keeping it on low settings to break it in -- I can't wait until I am a couple hundred hours in and I tweak the settings. My only picture quality complaint is a small amount of blotchiness in the blacks that I've noticed in some dark backgrounds (Gothika and Law & Order). I've chalked it up to not being broken in and not being on the top settings (and to the fact that I was streaming those things on the Internet). We'll see if that improves - and I'll be sure to come back and update either way. But by and large, you can't beat the way that the colors in general seem to pop into your lap and make you feel like you are actually inside the movie.
All that said, I have been a little unimpressed with the picture quality when watching some standard-definition content (from Amazon on Demand and from a laptop via HDMI connection). I still haven't hooked up my regular old DVD player, but my hopes aren't real high for my old DVDs until I get a good Blu-Ray player that will upconvert them nicely. I look forward to that day . . . because I own more than 500 movies on DVD and a lot of seasons. I definitely do want to enjoy them on my new big screen, and I hope that works out well when I decide on a Blu-Ray player. When I do, I'll be back to update this.
A note on value -- do some shopping around. As I write this on 10/31/09, I can say that I got this TV at a more than twenty-one percent discount from the Amazon price or the price of other big name brick and motar stores. Take a look at some of the retailers who sell on Amazon.....they have their own sites and their own deals. The TV arrived via UPS (sure, no white glove delivery service....but my girlfriend and I were able to carry the TV in and set it up ourselves...it wasn't worth the extra cost....and even if I had chosen the white-glove service, it still would have been significantly cheaper). Don't be afraid to call a dealer and ask how much better they can do.....most of them have price-match programs and so on. I did very very little haggling to get the price into the range I wanted. In fact, I really just named the price I wanted to pay and I paid it. Keep that in mind.
Changing gears, I have read a number of complaints about the sound quality of this television. My first thought every time I read this type of comment is "Who drops anywhere near two G's on a TV and doesn't either already have or plan to buy a home theater setup? Do these people honestly use the TV's speakers? Do they expect a TV that is 3 or 4 inches thick to sound like the IMAX?" That said, I don't have mine hooked up to any type of sound system right now and I have to report that it sounds awesome. As a former DJ who owns a surround system for both home theater and one for a computer (and the necessary pieces to run my computer through the home theater), I have to say that the TV speakers sound pretty darn good to me. Granted, I have the TV in a bedroom at the moment (and not a huge bedroom at that) and my expectations were not IMAX sound. This TV's built-in sound exceeds my expectations....but I don't plan to use it for very long -- and seriously, neither should you. Buy some sound equipment.
Last, but not least, burn-in/image retention. So far, it's nonexistent. My girlfriend has driven me a little batty a couple of times by watching YouTube videos without fullscreening them (thereby keeping a static menu on the left for a while). We have slid through hundreds of movies on the Amazon on Demand menus with static images on the top and bottom. We rented one movie from Amazon that was in High Def but was letterboxed (why?!?!? -- and why can't I change the setting and zoom it to get rid of the letterbox when I'm using VieraCast?!?!?). Neither has caused even a HINT of a problem. I'm still being overly cautious whenever I can be.....but I have not had the slightest hint of image retention/burn-in. This seems to be the quality product that one would expect when one spends this kind of money.
All in all, I give the Panasonic TC-P50V10 an emphatic stamp of approval. I'm thrilled with my purchase. I went to the mall last night and cheated on my baby a bit looking at how pretty the Samsungs look....but at the end of the day, my girlfriend was right - I want the TV that knocks my socks off when it's on. I have heard ZERO sound from the V10 (no buzz) and I have noticed no heat (supposedly all plasmas produce it?). The picture is gorgeous and VieraCast is OK. I look forward to VierCast updates -- and if they don't come, I'll get a Netflix-enabled Blu-Ray player. You should buy this TV, just don't pay full price. I know I won't regret it any time soon.

I ordered the Panasonic TC-L37X1 as a new TV sold from Amazon. It was shipped by a freight carrier (instead of UPS or FedEx) with free shipping and the box had a hole in it when the TV arrived. When I turned the TV on, the screen looked the same as a car window after a big rock has hit it. The TV was obviously damaged before or during shipping. Additionally, on the top third of the screen (which wasn't as damaged) you could still read TV channel and menu item listings and all the listings were in Spanish. That, along with pretty limited and broken styro packaging in the box, indicates to me that the TV was previously owned & used since the language selection was already done. I probably won't order a TV from Amazon again. These are two big issues to have in a single purchase and it's not worth the hassle to me.

Picture quality is frequently a function of the source signal and the source associated with this TV is far from great, but at that, the picture is quite acceptible.
The main feature that impresses me in this unit is the sound quality. I am quite pleased with its clarity. I have a Samsung which I most often augment with earphones or external speakers. With the sound quality of the Panasonic I have not felt it necessary to use either.
