 "Amazing LCD TV" 2009-06-12
By T. Foster (Longmont, CO)
It's just as good as Consumer Report's had said. I love the picture quality and the clarity is amazing. However, when I switch it off each night on the power strip and then flip it back on, it wants me to program it (language, etc.). I'm trying to avoid the dreaded "phantom load" - where consumer electronics suck electricity even when they're powered off. It was more expensive than other other TVs as well - but definitely worth it.

 "Great image, great sound" 2009-05-25
By ubat (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
I've had this TV for around two months and it is a monster -- in a good way. Picture quality, be it standard or HD, is superlative, as is the sound (my other LCD, a Samsung Series 6 32", on the other hand, has poor sound quality). Out of the box, manual in hand, I made some quick, minor adjustments and got just the picture I wanted. Colors are realistic (but can be toned up or down, depending on personal taste), contrast is perfect, blacks are really black. I thought I'd have trouble watching sports such as tennis -- small ball, lots of confusing color and superquick movement --, but there was none. The action is always smooth and crisp, even when I'm not as far away from the TV as I should be. HD picture is superb, to say the least. So lifelike I almost forget I'm looking at a screen.

Although the TV is on during the day (I have it in my home office), I didn't notice any reflections or glare from natural light. For me, no need for a matte screen. I also like that the black frame is non-intrusive. Actually, I quite like the TV's design: simple, functional, with clean lines. The remote control is intuitive and one learns the button layout easily. Menus are easily accessible and settings can be changed in a jiffy. My one tiny bit of criticism goes to the position of the volume and channel buttons (up and down): in every single TV or cable box I've ever owned, the volume buttons are on the left of the remote and the channel, on the right. The Panasonic's remote, for some odd reason, has them the other way around! In the beginning, I switched a lot of channels when I wanted to change the volume, but I've gotten used to this small quirk.

That Panasonic would dedicate so much attention, care and technology to a 37" TV makes life for us -- consumers who want fine quality screens in smaller sizes -- a lot easier and more pleasureable. I highly recommend the 37LZ800 37-inch TV.

By Yankee Fan (Shreveport, La USA)
I recently purchased Panasonic's Viera TC-37LZ800 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV to replace a Samsung 37 inch HDTV. The Panasoic has much better pitcure quality than the Samsung. The colors are perfect. It has great sound quality and a user-friendly remote. The Samsung that we had before came from Best Buy and they tried to convince me to have them come out and calibrate the tv for a $300 fee. This Panasonic has a perfect pitcure straight out of the box without any expensive calibration. I highly recommend this tv.

 "37" LCD - Excellent Quality" 2009-04-05
By Larry Raphael (Oakton, VA)
I read all the features and LCD TV reviews before making my decision. I selected the Panasonic, though it was more expensive compared to other very good choices, for a number of reasons. Consumer Reports rated it tops in the 37" size category. Many past reviewers gave it overall very high marks with very few below that rating. I was very pleased with past experience with Panasonic products. Also, I believe the Panasonic had larger and higher watt speakers in this LCD TV size range compared to competitors. Overall speaker quality in TVs of this size may be somewhat compromised because of the dimensional compactness of the box and that the 37" may be used in varied locations with different needs: a small family or living room where some would want better speaker quality verses a bedroom setting where just adequate speakers may suffice. The Panasonic speakers were rated higher than the competition in this size range and we have found the speakers for our large bedroom more than adequate.

Having now had the LCD for a couple of months, it is excellent. I have nothing negative to indicate. Basically disconnected the cable from the old tv and hooked it up to the new LCD. We have Verizon Fios and the HDTV programs come in sharp and colors are perfect. Non-HDTV is fine as well. We have made no adjustments at all to any of the settings except fiddling around with the TV format sizing to get the right size picture (and this is a normal thing to be doing with any set). I highly recommend this Panasonic product.

We searched long and hard before this purchase. I spent several months comparing Samsung, Sony and Panasonic HDTVs and deciding between a plasma or LCD. One feature that truly sold me on this television was the built in surround sound with sub-wof built in. The picture is stunning, there is no glare that is noticeable and it is located in a room that had a tremendous amount of natural light. I would highly recommend this product. The price was great and the delivery service was excellent.

 "Outstanding" 2009-06-07
By Tharuthalai (florida, USA)
I have had the Panasonic TH-50PZ850U for about 6 months. I spent about $2100 with extended warranty. So far, I have been impressed. The resolution was top notch. I used "Finding Nemo" to test the colors. On the vivid setting it was fantastic... Probably a bit exaggerated. The Studio ref mode offers more accurate colors. The THX settings on the 800U may be more accurate, but I would love to have a little bit of oomph to the colors even if it is not accurate. Don't we all like "exaggerated fake ones"!

Clearly this TV is a winner. It comes close to the blacks in a pioneer and the THX accuracy of the 800U. It matches the Brilliant colors of a Samsung or probably even better. It has improved energy savings, better anti glare screen, wider viewing angle, and a web interface via viera cast. I am going to set up the viera cast soon. I cannot find another TV that packs more.

The speakers are great. I moved to a smaller home and had to keep the surround speakers in storage, but I don't feel the need for them.

It is easy to assemble and set up. You won't need a professional. I bought an upconverting DVD player to watch all my old DVDs and the difference is obvious. I am yet to watch Blu-ray movies. I am waiting for a good blu ray player that can also play movies stored on an external hard drive through a USB connection.

Like others have mentioned, the only bug - if a player is connected through a HDMI port it will switch out another that is connected via component cables.

I love this TV. The color is vibrant and accurate. The remote is easy to operate with user friendly menus. HD programming brings the action right into your home! The technical support from Panasonic over the phone was also very helpful. The only negative I have had with the TV is that blinds in windows do need to be closed for best performance, otherwise there is quite a bit of light reflection off of the screen. Overall the experience of purchasing this set through Amazon has been a great one.

"Best Big Screen TV For Movies Period!" 2009-03-22
By David K. Wright (Charleston, SC)
Like most of my electronics purchases, I researched this for over a month. Waited for price to settle and got a great deal with Amazon. I already own 40" and 46" Samsung 7 series 1080p LCDs, Sharp Aquos 1080p 32"LCD and Toshiba 1080p 32" LCD. This TV is exceptional for watching movies in particular. The color reproduction is unrivaled. The picture is a bit softer than the LCDs. The LCDs have sharper contrast, but almost too stark and colors not as natural. Paid extra for the Sammy anti-motion blur 100 mHz feature. Works ok sometimes. But nice thing about the Panasonic is no motion blur b/c smooth high speed images inherent in plasma technology. Front drop down access panel for power, vol, ch controls and inputs for RCA, SD card, and HDMI convenient feature. No fumbling around the dark back of the set to plug in dig camera, SD card, Sony PS, etc. Hooked up to ethernet and able to surf the web and display images and video from PC-a real kick to see Windows desktop on 50" screen. Movies on studio reference setting like being in the theater. Only other TV considered was Pioneer Kuro. Head-to-head similar reviews. Panny half the price. A no brainer. We never go to the movies anymore! Buy it you won't regret it!

 "StdDeff Source Nice" 2009-07-06
By D. Beijer
Thought I would comment on Standard Definition (480i) source feeds. Had myself in a tizzy thinking the whole house audio/visual distribution system I designed in 1998 would have to be overhauled.

Composite (Yellow video, R/W audio RCA plugs) 480i feeds are upconverted by this unit nicely and produce a much richer picture compared to the 2003 Panasonic 42" SDTV plasma it replaced. While the "right" way to do the setup would be HDMI cables from the DVD players to the TV, I am very satisfied with the picture and saved myself a pile of work.

While of little interest to most, I am disappointed by Panasonic's lack of discrete IR codes for ON and FORMAT (ASPECT) in this unit. The Panasonic 42" has codes for Full, Just and Zoom I use in the Pronto universal remotes. Having to toggle my way to Zoom is a bother. OK, not important but this unit doesn't do something the old one does and that is not progress. Minus 1 Star.

If you have HD sources, do the HDMI work. If you don't, let the TV do the work and just enjoy your DVDs.

BTW - I bought this from TigerDirect, their customer service and shipping to Hawaii was terrible.

"Nice Set While it Lasted" 2009-10-12
By Keith Thompson (Chicago, IL USA)
Loved the TV for the first 90 days. Beautiful picture, decent sound, plenty of connectivity options. Today it wouldn't turn on; the power LED blinked 7 times, then paused, then blinked 7 times repeatedly.

I called Panasonic Customer Service, the guy had me unplug it, wait 2 minutes, plug it back in. Same result. He had me remove it from AC line conditioner and plug directly into wall socket, still dead. He tried to transfer our call to another department but no one answered. He said someone will return our call within 24 hours. Still waiting.

Searching the Internet leads me to believe this problem is fairly common, and that Panasonic Customer Service is not terribly responsive.

Considering my previous Panasonic Viera LCD only lasted about 3 years before developing cloudy gray areas (also common according to my Internet research), I should have thought twice about buying another Panasonic.

"Inferior packaging ruined not one, but TWO TVs! Do not buy!" 2009-10-11
By MegBeid (Washington, DC)
When I originally saw this TV with a free shipping offer from Amazon, I decided to purchase it. Big mistake. The original TV I purchased arrived approximately 3 days later and, to my surprise, was only packaged in the original Panasonic box. There was no additional packaging provided by Amazon to protect a delicate piece of equipment like this from the rough handling that take place during shipping. When I opened the box, there were four small pieces of styrofoam contoured to each corner of the TV. That was the only insulation protecting it - nothing over the screen. I took the screen out of the box, and it was shattered, looking like a spider web of broken glass. Disappointed, I immediately called Amazon and requested a replacement, which they were happy to arrange for me. I specifically requested that the replacement be insulated better and marked 'fragile,' and the representative assured me that management looks at all products damaged from packaging/shipping to make sure the situation did not repeat itself. This was a load of BS. The replacement TV arrived about 3 days later and in the exact same condition as the first one. Same packaging, same shattered screen. I found this whole situation to be absurd, because I can hardly believe this is the first TV Amazon ever shipped; they should know what they're doing by now. I cannot believe anyone expected this TV to arrive in one piece based on the packaging. This isn't rocket science; it was laziness. Amazon was too lazy to spend a few extra dollars properly packaging the TV, and as a result, destroyed $1600 worth of electronics. Wouldn't it have been more cost effective for everyone if Amazon just did it right the first time? And to let it happen twice is completely unacceptable and shows me that Amazon does not really care about customer satisfaction. I finally received a credit back on my credit card about 10 business days after they received the package, but the total time it took to receive my refund from the time I shipped it was about 21 calendar days. Bottom line: I would not recommend having an electronic like this shipped, period. Lesson learned and I went to Best Buy instead.

My last Panasonic 42" was stolen in a home robbery.I bought it 4 years ago because it was the one of the highest rated by Consumer Reports at the time. This is supposed to be the upgraded model and still highly rated by CR. The picture is great, big difference with the 1080p. It was simple to set up and offers lots of screen options. I was not happy with the delivery. I paid $99 for 1-3 day delivery and did not receive for over a week (7 days). I am still requesting the refund which was promised.

 "My First Plasma" 2009-08-24
By Ryan
I previously owned a bulky 46" DLP but decided I needed a new and smaller TV due to moving into a smaller place. I researched for a while and decided on this television, the deciding factors being 1080p, contrast, and refresh rate. I have to say, I'm very pleased.

This is the first full HD television I've ever owned. After tweaking with the picture I stuck in Wall-E on Blu-Ray and was amazed by the clarity. I realized just how much I'd been missing out on HD with my other TV.

I wish it has a PC input, but you can get HDMI adapters for that. The picture quality of an HDMI connected device looks awesome, but I've noticed it's a little dark with component devices like game consoles as well as cable and HD signal channels. Games look good though, even the Wii looks pretty good. I wish I could have tested out my XBox360 more on this set but it unfortunately broke two days after getting the TV. Figures...

I bought this TV with hopes of getting the best Blu-Ray picture at this price range and I think I got it. At under $900 this TV is a steal.

I recently purchased this new Panasonic LCD TV after doing some research. I've been very happy with the performance of the TV but the only thing Panasonic left out was an addition to make it easier to attach this as a secondary monitor for a computer. I am an American Service member serving a remote tour overseas and have a small monitor attached to my computer. I thought and this was an oversight on my part that it would be easy to adapt this TV as a larger or second monitor for my computer. To make it nicer to see my family via my video cam attached to my computer. Alas, I have not found a way to view my computer on this TV. Other than that, it was a solid purchase and panasonic has made me impressed.

"A great, inexpensive LCD TV without bells and whistles." 2009-12-08
By Dr. Phu™ (Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive)
This is an excellent deal no matter which way you look at it. For $465 with free shipping (Prime member) and no tax, this one is a no-brainer.

The picture is sharp - maybe not as sharp as its more expensive big brothers, but sharp enough for any casual TV viewer. Be sure to find the right picture format for your purposes (I like "justified", although others with weaker eyesight might like "zoom", while others may prefer the wide angle if they are avid HD video fans. There are enough picture features to adjust it to your liking, including extensive color settings and more. And to top it all, it's just plain easy to adjust using the included remote.

One caveat: you may find the maximum volume setting a bit low when you first plug it in, and you might even turn the volume up to 100% or so in bigger rooms. But there is an easy fix: go into menu, then audio settings, and adjust the base audio level to max, then when you go back to your remote you'll find you have enough volume/headroom to enjoy any movie with plenty to spare. I don't need a 2.1 or 3.1 speaker system; it's sound is good as it is. I'm an audiophile, but I just don't see the need to spend money on an extra speaker system to match up with this inexpensive, but good, TV.

Assembly? What assembly. The only thing you need to assemble is the stand, which consists of four screws. Easy peasy.

This baby is plug and play - I had it up and running in under 15 minutes. It features a very intuitive settings format.

All in all, a great product at a ridiculous price. Highly recommended. If you just want a no frills LCD TV with HD, and you don't plan to build a screening room or theater, this is the ticket. Get them while they last!

Hey, just a word of warning about SAMSUNG and SONY,

Read several reviews of SAMSUNG LCDs and you will find that yes they have a gorgeous picture, but they often STOP WORKING within a year or two, and the reviews report that their CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE.

I have read some reviews for comparable SONY LCDs again a somewhat decent product but many have complained of EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES.

Panasonic on the other hand has a great reputation for CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I am planning on buying this TV for my Mom for her bedroom.

I have a Panasonic 46" Plasma and I LOVE IT. BTW THE BEST PLASMA ON THE MARKET NOW THAT PIONEER IS DEAD.

"its good.. not great. 120hz isnt top notch" 2009-09-16
By John W. Miller (LA, ca)
I recently purchased 3 different 32 inch LCDs. The first was a Samsung LN32B360C5D. Its a 32 inch 720p LCD with a 60hz refresh rate. After seeing a friends LCD with a 120hz I was hooked and quickly took mine back to best buy to upgrade to the 1080p 120hz Samsung LN32B640. Now this was a gorgeous LCD! Absolutely stunning. So good in fact that watching regular DVD through a blu ray player on this LCD was... AWESOME!! I was sold on 120hz rate even more. Old DVD after old DVD was brought back to life with an amazing 3D quality that was outstanding. But the price for this unite was 800. Almost double what I paid for my original Samsung.

SO... After watching both LCDs... one at 720p and the other at 1080p I decided that it was not the HD quality but the extra hz rate (120hz) that did the trick. Dont get me wrong. 1080p is better than 720p even at 32 inch. Marginal but the sharpness is with out a doubt there. So I decided that I could do without the 1080p as long as I could get the 120hz and maybe save a few bucks. Which led me to this LCD.

Panasonic VIERA G1 Series TC-L32G1 32-Inch 720p 120Hz LCD HDTV.

Is the picture as good as either of the Samsungs. NO. Definitely not. The 120hz works well with Blu Ray movies but not on regular DVDs like the 1080p Samsung. This has disappointed me the most. I know a lot of people out there dont like what this refresh rate does to film, or better yet how it makes film look like a soap oprea. Myself I LOVE IT. Think its just great. Gives older movies a new lease on life! This LCDs 120hz though just doesnt cut it. In fact it doesnt seem to work at all?!! I dont understand why but you dont get the depth that you get with the Samsung at all that also has the 120hz. I watched the same movies on both TVs through the same DVD player and the Panasonic sucks compared to the Samsung. No other way to put really, sorry. If someone knows something I dont PLEASE inform me.

For you out there that dont care about 120hz but want a 32 inch LCD. Go for the Samsung LN32B360C5D. Great picture... much better than this Panasonic model. Those of you that want a 32 LCD with 120hz. Well if you can afford the extra money again grab the other Samsung LN32B640. You will not be disappointed. If you are like me and am restricted by your budget... This will have to do. Plus it isnt as easy to return stuff you buy through Amazon as it is with Best Buy. I cant be bothered to box up a 3rd TV in less than a month and then pay for the shipping fees. Hope this helps.

"Amazon beat anyone else by $250 on great TV" 2009-09-13
By Literate Shoe Lover (Boston)
Great TV - perfect in our small living room. I can finally see the actual writing on the sports scores! MUCH clearer than the Panasonic lower line.

Also, Amazon beat *everyone* else's price by $250 - $500 here including free shipping, $750 the cheapest elsewhere. The locals who promised to beat anyone's price wouldn't touch it!!

"Superb TV - after 1 year of use." 2009-12-04
By medstudent25 (the South)
I bought this TV in Christmas '08 for my wife for use in our Master Bedroom. After a year, I have nothing but good things to say.

I did a pretty good bit of research on this product, having owned a Panasonic 42" plasma prior to this. I got it in conjunction with another Panasonic 37" LCD for Christmas, and both are spectacular. The hue/green tone problems mentioned in the "most helpful negative review" just don't play out with our TV. The colors pop, the screen is bright, and the sound is very good. If I was sitting 3 inches from the TV with high-tech color calibration gadgets, could I uncover some imperfection? I suppose so.. but would it matter?

For everyday use, this TV delivers a crystal-clear image that is light-years above the CRTs of recent memory. If you have a nice source (such as DirecTV HD boxes), a TV this size looks great in 720p. There's just no need for 1080p unless you're getting above 37" - 42". For the price listed now, it's a steal. I spent about $300 more just a year ago.

Overall, another first-rate TV from Panasonic.

 "Razor Sharp Picture" 2009-05-08
By Frank Phillips (Leesburg, Fl. USA)
Purchased this TV for master bedroom. Perfect size as room is quite large, 19' x 20', and you can easily see the picture and read the screen text from the bed. Colors and clarity as well as resolution are outstanding. TV arrived in a couple of days and setup was easy. Great value from Amazon....

 "Very good" 2009-04-13

Very good LCD Tv.

Escellent image, functions

The speakers' sound is too weak, but if you connect with a home theater it won't be any problem.

 "i can't say enough!" 2009-03-19
By J. kim Engle (williamsport, pa)
i bought this from a seller i found on amazon at christmas time and i dealt with them directly. i got this for $536.00 over two months ago after much research with no tax and free shipping. it showed up at my door 2 days later. i bought this for my bedroom and it's been played a lot! i could'nt be happier with it! the picture is stunning! a clear, crisp and sharp picture! the contrast ratio is only 10,000-1 so it looks better as the day wears on but i'm telling you the picture and clarity is first rate! you only need 720p for a hdtv 32" or smaller so my requirments when deciding on a bedroom tv were: 32", the $500.00 price range, a name brand, the best overall tv possible at the best price and a high energy star rating because i sleep with it on all night. after looking at sony, samsung, toshiba and others i decided on this one. panasonic has been building quality tv's for 50 years and this set proves it and it has the highest energy star rating in it's class. even the sound is good, not as deep and rich sounding as the 46" $3,000.00 hd/lcd samsung in my front room but for a $536.00 32" lcd/tv pretty damn good!.........p.s. for your living room hdtv you would want a 25,000-1 contast ratio or more for viewing in all kinds of light. my samsung is 25,000 - 1 and it looks great morning, noon and night in any kind of light!............update 6/21/09...........after 6 months of ownership i couldn't be happier with this unit! has met and exceeded all my expectations. good job panasonic!
