HDTV is easy. Home-Theater sound systems used to be hard but Panasonic has made it easier than pie (ready-made pie). Blu-ray extends beyond HDTV in sound. HDTV has 5.1-channel ability but Blu-Ray offers 7.1 channels. The SC-BT200 boasts seven speakers to envelop viewers in a remarkably true-to-life surround sound experience. The front and center channel speakers are made with a bamboo diaphragm which provides a tightly intertwined fiber to deliver greater rigidity and accuracy, resulting in clear reproduction of sounds over a wide frequency range, from massive explosions to metallic clangs. The subwoofer features a Kelton system with a dual diameter structure to deliver a deep powerful bass. The Smart Set-up guide uses the help of GUI navigation to allow users to set up their SC-BT200 home-theater system for optimum performance. The result is being able to stay at home while enjoying a thrilling, incredibly lifelike audio performance that rivals a movie theater. The appeal of Panasonic Blu-ray products goes beyond the breathtaking pictures and sound; the networking functions open the door to new kinds of entertainment fun. The SC-BT200 can connect to the Internet for downloading bonus content available with Blu-ray Discs and for playing Internet games via BD-Live. This connectivity is further enhanced with the addition of VIERA-Cast. VIERA-Cast integrates the Amazon Video-on-Demand (VOD) online movie rental service. The Amazon VOD service joins other content options already available on VIERA-Cast, including videos from You Tube, access to online photos via Picasa Web Albums, financial information from Bloomberg News, as well as local weather updates. The possibilities are virtually endless. It comes with a Universal Dock for iPod, making it easy for iPod users to play their favorite music or video downloads. This system is also Green-friendly. It has a power-save mode to protect the green.

I did quite a bit of shopping around and for the price, you can't beat this system!! Very rich full sound, clear as a new brass bell. Internet connectivity, Ipod dock built in, this system is wonderful. The one issue I have with this system is the same issue I have had with previous Panasonic systems, that silly proprietory plug on the chincy speaker wires provided. I have spent the money to get good, oxygen free 12 guage copper speaker wire to replace theirs, and I will have to do good soldering to attach the appropriate wire to the plugs, but I do tend to be a bit retentive. Of course I knew this is how it would be going in, but Panasonic is a great brand despite this one issue. Still all in all, a novice could set up this system in a manor of minutes and enjoy great sound right out of the box. If your going to invest in a great 1080 system, don't short the sound and, for the money, I couldn't find a better system with all the features out there.

We were disappointed when setting up in our family room. Replacing a 10+ year old Denon receiver and Bose speakers. It made us realize that the old system was actually still pretty good. The Panasonic sound system was weak and sounded like tin cans. We tried different settings, but never happy. We went back to our old system.
Rather than return, we setup in our Master Bedrooom. A smaller room, it works better and an improvement from the TV's speakers. That also upgraded that room's DVD to Blu-ray. More expensive than we had planned, but it works.

This DVD surround sound functioned as expected. I was looking for a decent priced all in one system. I'm not a deep into video/audio user. I have other Panosonic equipment and have been pleased with the quality and functionality. So far I have been pleased with this system. I did as much research and reviews on this as I could find on the net before I bought it. The sound quality is better than I expected. I have it attached to a Samsung LCD via HDMI and the integration works well enough. It automatically switches the TV to the DVD HDMI input when a DVD is inserted and mutes the TV speakers. When I switch the TV back to my digital TV service the TV speakers come back on. I haven't tried to program one of my remotes to manage the DVD player yet (not sure I will either) so I can't comment on that. The FM tuner works well and I get good reception even in my basement location. The internet connection function is a nice add-on for me but having wireless connectivity instead of wired would be nice. Fortunately my router is near the location of my TV. There are a whole lot of wires to connect (8 speakers, antenas, HDMI to TV, audio from cable or TV, network, maybe more - I forget) but the instructions and color coding made it pretty clear.

I bouht the system last Friday ( 10/30/09). Everything was excellent, until i updated the last firmware (1.5)on 10/31/2009. Since that i cant play music CDs, the message that appear reads "This operation is not available". i wrote an email to Panasonic Support Center about this, and i,m still waiting.

I had it out of the box and set up in an hour. It comes with a positioning mic for proper speaker placement

I was skeptical overall about buying a plasma TV versus a LCD TV because all I ever heard from people was 120hz this and 240hz that and yes while those tv's look great the Panasonic TC-P50S1 performs just as good if not better. The first thing you notice is the Anti-glare screen is amazing!Coming from a 1080 projection TV,I am used to closing all of the blinds in the living room during the daytime in order to watch TV because of the glare. Those days are gone! The vampires have moved out and let there be light. The TV performs like a champ in highly lit rooms with virtually no glare. As for the 1080p performance of this TV,its stunning!I have my PS3 connected via HDMI and the blu ray movies look almost 3-D..For the money I am extremely pleased and this will be my main TV for many many years to come...

This is my first HDTV (and my first plasma TV). We bought this in October. After much research and online reviews (believe me, I did countless hours of research to make sure this TV was it), I think overall this TV is great. I give it 4 stars (instead of 5)for the following:
1. Remote control is not entirely intuitive and takes getting used to.
2. Out of the box, flesh tones are greener than normal.
Overall, I am very happy with the TV because:
1. Resolution is fantastic, even with standard definition (SD) DVDs. You would have to peer closer to the TV to check for blurred images. Since my viewing distance is about 10 ft away, the images look pretty sharp with SD.
2. Although I mentioned color issues, they can be remedied. I went to the AVS forums ([...]and based upon user settings, changed setting to:
Picture Mode: Cinema
Contrast: +73
Brightness: +61
Color: +39
Tint: +2
Sharpness: +24
Color Temp: Warm
Advanced Picture
MPEG NR: Off
Black Level: Light
HD Size: Size 2 for blu-ray Size 1 for everything else.
Colors looked more natural!!
3. Has a service menu you can access for more professional tweaking (although I wouldn't do it myself).
4. Has a nice SD card slot to load hi res photos or as some AVS forum users have done, toggle images to perform an initial plasma burn-in.
You can't get a better deal with plasma TVs than this. Overall, great bang for the buck TV.

I have had this beautiful 50 inch TV for two weeks now. Not a problem LOVE the picture quality. From my Direct TV to my PS3 this baby is beautiful. It has transformed my TV watching. Love Football and Basketball games in HD and loved Starteck movie on the Bluray. Not bad remote, good adjustments, sound ok. A plus to have the SD card reader. Maybe could have a couple of more HDMI ports but three is ok.
All in all a great TV for the price. Great job panasonic.
By William Zellerbach
I use this TV mostly for video games and movies and the picture is incredible. The sound is pretty decent for a flat panel as well. I have never seen any image retention, there is no buzzing, and it doesn't get very hot. All in all, I love this TV. At this price range and higher, especially with high LCD prices, there is nothing that compares other than the less reliable Samsung Plasma (buzzing, image retention, bad customer service, etc.)You will not be disappointed with this purchase!
By Yoda
This TV is an unbelievable value in a flat panel TV. We use it in our bedroom and it is wall-mounted about 19 feet from the headboard of our bed. The picture is amazing using cable-box high definition signals via HDMI. We use this TV mostly for watching the news and catching school cancellations, in addition to channel surfing in the evening, so it is overkill for that purpose. I have an older upscaling DVD-player connected to it through component cables and the picture is amazing. Sound quality is more than adequate for a bedroom TV. BTW: this TV replaced a 6-year old Samsung DLP that died (the repair cost actually exceeded the purchase price of this TV!). So, it was an unexpected purchase for us. I could not justify the jump in price to go to LCD, and I really could not tell much of a difference. This plasma TV is a HUGE improvement over the old Samsung DLP - no fan noise (no noise whatsoever, actually), it can be viewed almost from the side (great for casual viewing while doing other things), and the picture has zero motion artifacts (due to the 600 Hz subfield drive). I also have a new Samsung 67" DLP/LED TV and the picture in my opinion is identical to this plasma - perfect. Most of the much more expensive LCDs I looked at side-by-side had motion artifacts - but none on this plasma TV (nor my DLP/LED either). There is minimal glare on the screen, but our bedroom windows face north so not much direct sunlight (the screen, however, is like a satin finish, so not bad at all, and nothing a slight tilt on the wall bracket won't take care of). I am so delighted with this plasma TV and for just under a grand is was a real steal. Perfect for my purposes and I can't imagine it not serving most purposes for main home theater, gaming, whatever - I highly recommend this TV as the best deal out there for under a grand (local box store). Buy it, mount it on the wall with a Sanus tilt mount if you can, and you will be just thrilled.

54 inch 1080p Panasonic Viera...Best TV I have ever owned. Picture is awesome! HD cable, BLU RAY and standard DVD play incredibly well. XBOX 360 gaming is also incredible!! I would give this flatscreen a perfect 10. Could not beat for the money.

I bought this TV planning to use it in my cabin, but after installing it and viewing it in action, I'm keeping it here. It's just too good to part with. Excellent color. All the features I need. Simple to install and use. Can't beat it. Outstanding, really.
I swear, when I first turned it on, I think I heard a celestial choir--aaaaahhhhhhh.
Guess I'll have to get another one for the cabin. I also note that the price has gone down by about $100. Excellent deal.
My recommendation: Buy this tv. Now.
By Dion Wilson (Dallas, TX)
The picture is great, and the color controls seem pretty basic. I am satisfied with the level of control. The reds and greens are very vibrant, and the blacks are nice and deep.
It only has 3 HDMI inputs, but I don't need more than that, and if you have a high-def home theater system I would think that most of your components are channeled through the receiver.
I was a little suprised to find out that Closed Captions don't work over HDMI. This is a limitation of the HDMI technology, not the television. At the time of writing this review, there is no requirement for [CC] in HDMI specifications. This means that if you want to use HDMI input for cable or sattelite, you have to use the CC features on the set top box.
It's a plasma, so it does get warm. In a large enough room, this won't be noticable. Also, when I was adjusting the connections in the back, I noticed a low buzzing noise. At regular viewing distances it isn't even discernible.
I wish some of the onscreen shortcuts (Viera Tools) were more customizable, and the remote could have included a few more keys for direct access to some of the features, but I have a Logitech 880 which I can use to program any shortcuts or command strings I need.
Amazed at the price for this quality of technology. Glad I waited before taking the plunge into large screen HDTVs.
By Jeffrey Murphy (St Paul, MN)
I am one of those guys that have spent a lot of time researching, reading reviews and seeing a lot of sets. I have half been in the market for the last year or so for a new TV and was waiting for a good deal and prices to drop. I was originally going to get a 46", then decided I'd wait a little longer and get a 50" for the same price until this came along and I saw I could get a 54" for an awesome price. I never thought I would go plasma (especially a new-to-the-market series) but after reading the reviews I discovered that all the problems they are known for are gone with this TV. The "burn-in" effect is no longer with the advanced technology to scan the screen for burn-in. The energy consumption problem is solved with this being Energy Star qualified and consumes half the energy of previous models. Also, there is no buzzing and barely any heat coming off this TV (much less than my 3 year old 37"). I do admit, I only had this TV for 3 weeks before I found a better deal on the exact same model in the 58" version on Amazon so I decided to take the hit on returning it and size-proof my TV for hopefully a few more years down the road. It did take 27 days to get the refund in my account when their policy is within 28 days in case you are wondering. I was completely satisfied with the 54" but I sit fairly far away from the set and it just wasn't quite enough.
The set up is as simple as a few button hits, you might want to adjust the standard color/brightness a little but I thought it was barely needed. The Viera feature is good in theory but you have to have other Panasonic Viera products in order for it to all work and have just 1 remote. I ended up getting the Viera Blu-Ray, but I still have 4 remotes (TV, Blu-Ray, Surround, Cable) laying around even though I don't really need the actual TV remote because the Blu-Ray one will control the Power and Volume of the TV. I initially thought I would be able to program the Viera remote with any receiver but I was wrong.
There were recent articles in the news about plasmas being phased out but with the technology and quality of this TV, I can't imagine why. Apparently Panasonic is one of the last companies making them but they are still putting money into facilities to create the latest/greatest technology. Only if all of those LCD owners knew what they are missing for 2/3 the price! The G10 series adds a much higher price tag and only the internet capable options (which I got with the Blu-Ray anyway) so I would strongly recommend the S1 series, there is no way you will be disappointed.

After dumping a set of Bose satellite speakers for an All-in-one Dolby Digital 7.1 this unit doesn't seem as solid as the old combo unit I had. The speakers are of light plastic and they seem cheaply made. But the sound doesn't seem to have been affected (although there are very few 7.1 Blu-ray disc made. But having the all in one with iPod cradle and the price make up for all it deficiencies.
By John Ron-Je' (Lake Jackson,Texas!)
I'm no expert, but this system sounds awesome to me. Easy to set up and start using right away. The speakers all have plenty of wire to distribute, I've read some comment how they don't have enough wire, well these must be people that live in huge homes with family rooms the size of barns I guess. Star trek sounded great! Buy this, you wont regret. And to be able to hear all my music from my IPhone is great as well.
By Tamara Brophy (Aurora, NE USA)
Great value for the price! Definitely impressed! Don't know much about systems, I just know that this actually sounds like you are in a theatre!
By Scott Hartrick (PA)
Overall, I am VERY happy with this system. The sound is great and the quality is top notch. The best part is that the blu-ray player is FAST. I've used other brands that take a long time to get the movie started. The adjustability is also a very nice feature. You can individually tune every speaker and adjust the levels accordingly. I have the rear surrounds turned up higher to get a better surround sound "feel". I dpn't care about the wireless feature because I have prewiring in my home for 7.1 surround, so I don't see any wires anyway. If you need an affordable blu-ray home theater, it will be hard to beat this system.

IT IS REALLY ANNOYING.

I *think* this set is a great value, but I may be doing something wrong with the settings which is why I'm not giving 5 stars for the picture.
Some background. I read the Amazon reviews which were stellar overall, and read the CNET review. I read the Plasma TV Mag review after I bought the plasma, and it may reflect some of the issues I'm having.
And the value - WOW - I got the set at Best Buy for $769 - they wanted to beat the Amazon price at the time.
Let me confirm a few things mentioned previously in these reviews:
1. It does take a few days to "break in" the picture. The picture has gotten better over the two weeks I've owned it.
2. The frame is extra-glossy and doesn't help the already-reflective surface of the plasma
3. The picture controls are very limited and not nearly as numerous as what you would find on a Sony or other set
The biggest picture quality issue I'm having with this set is jaggeed edges with higher sharpness settings and very dull and poorly defined faces with lower sharpness settings. You really have to play with the settings quite a bit. Overall, closeups on people and other imagery is exceptional, but objects in the background are very fuzzy, washed out and dull, almost colorless in some situations, for example crowds at a football games appear blurry and dull. I found by increasing contrast and reducing brightness, I could help this a bit. The Plasma Mag review confirms this problem. I would say this is the biggest difference versus an LCD, visuals do not have nearly the sharp edges or color depth. Sure, the blacks are much better, but I would love to have better color depth.
For example, if you're watching ESPN NFL show or something, the faces of the commentators at a distance are extremely fuzzy and poorly defined. But up front, incredible. LCDs are better at this I think.
Here are my settings, so maybe somebody can help:
Picture Mode - Custom
Contrast - 77
Brightness - 57
Color - 44
Tint + 4 (reds are too red)
Sharpness - 48
Black level - Light
Overall great set but I'm constantly playing with the picture settings for different types of shows, which I don't like.
And you can't really expect perfection at this price!
By Myra Jasmin (CONCORD,CA)

I think this is great TV for the price. If you are looking for a good looking Big tv for a space where you wont be within 5 feet of it, its great. I have really no complaints for this tv, except that it only has an optical audio out. It works great for playing video games, I have an xbox 360 and PS2, and games look awesome. Highly Recommend this tv.

I was renting this TV thru a rent-a-type place paying $140 a month before I purchased this thru amazon. Let me tell you this TV is the best deal since EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did order thru amazon paid $789 and when it arrived the screen was CRACKEd. I was so mad. I waited a week for this TV to arrive and it came broke. I called up amazon and the lady told me they would rush ship me another one. I asked how long should it take, and she said about a week. I told here what kind of rush shipping is that, as I waited a week for the first one to arrive. She then said she could do nothing. Could not even credit me something for this inconvenience. Horrible customer serveice on this AMAZON deal. If I knew it would take 2 weeks to arrive I would have gone to WOLLY WORLD!!!

Outstanding value and quality for this articulating mount. Worked out perfectly for my Sony XBR 55". Very stable and well made, and priced on Amazon to sell! Highly recommended.
By M. Honeycutt
The mount works fine for what I need it for. To extend the TV out of the opening, and get to the connections. But if you want to use it to move the TV position around, it is a little clunky. Also the gauge on the steel looks a little light to me, compared to some other mounts I've seen.
By Patricia Labree (VILLAS, NJ, US)
Hello I bought this product about 1 week ago. I have a 47" TV and i was a little worried about the weight of my tv. Let me say this, After i mounted the mount to the wall hiting two studs. I hung from it. I weigh 215lbs.. And the mount didnt budge. This is a great product. My dad has a omin mount and says that this mount looks better, and you can run the wires alot easier wth this rather than the omni mount. This is a great pruduct. And i would like to hank the other reviews, because thats what sold this item. Im getting a 55" for my back room. No doubt that this mount will do the job. Thank You very much. Sgt James Heinold
By Roberts J. Roberts Jr. (Corona, CA)
The Hercules HRM-100 is a good choice for mounting flat panel TVs. It comes with all of the hardware needed for most normal installations. It seems to be shipped with the tension set overly stiff on the side swivel. Backing the 4 nuts off about 1/3 turn fixed that very quickly. I will get another one for my next flat panel install!
By B. Massey (TX United States)
I was a little apprehensive in buying this item on Amazon. I could only find one review on Amazon prior to my purchase. The main complaint of the review was regarding the distance between the wall studs and that fact that this distance was not being spelled out in the specs. However, the review did state that the HRM-100 was "....definitely sturdy." I couldn't agree more. The HRM-100 is sturdy as an ox. It is solid steel and built very well. I'm currently using it for a 32" HDTV. I plan to swap out my TV for a 47" and I have no concerns regarding the ability of the HRM-100 to support a larger TV. Most homes in the U.S. were built to spec with the studs that are 16 inches apart. So, this should be a non-issue for most buyers. After bolting the HRM-100 to the wall with four huge bolts, I was ready to watch TV. The install was great and directions were sufficient. I recommend this to anyone. I couldn't believe the price on Amazon compared to other articulating mounts. The HRM-100 was approx 1/2 to 1/3 the price of other options. But a lower price definitely did not mean lower quality. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

I purchased this TV in June 2009, and it is probably one of the better purchases I have made in a long time. I did a ton of research when looking to purchase a TV, and in all of my research, this had the best picture quality I have seen. The price on this model is not the cheapest, but I have noticed that with HDTV's, you get what you pay for. I didn't mind sinking in some additional money when I saw how fantastic the picture quality was.
The presets on the TV aren't necessarily the best..do a little research on the Internet (type in TC-P46G10 in the search engine of your choice) to learn the settings to get the best picture quality. Once you have these presets done, this TV is amazing!

I just installed this TV so am not able to comment on the TV itself but I wish to definitely add something regarding the way TV was delivered. The delivery was supposed to be done by Pilot and it is a white glove service but they subcontracted it to somebody else. So far so good but this guy drives up in an old van with my TV lying flat in the van and alone!!! The shipping label mentions "2 men". This is a 80lb. TV. Nonetheless the delivery guy is supposed to open the package and take the packing materials but he just left it like that in my room..So I must say that it was very unprofessional...I called Amazon and let them know about this..I must say that Amazon's customer service is very helpful and courteous though.

An excellent TV, fairly straightforward to use, excellent picture. We wanted to upgrade from a 32" 720p Vizio to a larger 1080p HDTV in our family room. The better quality LCD TVs quickly exceeded the price of this TV. Plus plasma produces a brighter picture, and with 600Hz refresh rate, there is none of the ghosting or motion blur you sometimes see with LCD TVs. This is upper middle-class in Panasonic's line-up, and we are delighted. Hooked up to a HD digital cable/DVR box and great picture (other than when the digital signal from our provider has issues). Beautiful picture from Blu-ray discs (BBC PlanetEarth series is absolutely gorgeous). We are really pleased with this after nearly 2 months of use.
The three HDMI ports are quite adequate for our Blu-ray player and cable box. There is still one free if we choose to add another hi-def source.
Panasonic includes VeraCast, which connects to the internet and allows you to see Utube and other internet video. Unfortunately, our home network is wireless, and the connection is coax ethernet. We will need a wireless to ethernet adapter to use the feature. It would have been nice to have a USB port or other option for networking.
The set is also Energy Star, although we don't have a sense of energy usage yet. The set is highly rated elsewhere.

Bought this TV on the advise of a high-end video fanatic friend when I told him I wanted a great TV on a small budget. The picture quality is phenominal! The set-up was easy and the whte-glove delivery folks were excellent. The process could not have been easier. The sound quality of the built-in speakers is poor, however. While waiting for my new AV receiver to arrive I tried connecting my subwoofer alone to the TV and the change was dramatic. With a real AV set-up the theatrical experience is amazing.
I connected the TV via ethernet to take advantage of the Viera Link functionality. It works very well and is easy to set up and intuitive to use. I rented an Amazon HD movie and found the experience to be flawless - no digital chatter and an almost non-existant buffer period. It's too bad there aren't better controls for FF, rewind, etc but you can still pause. Also, the YouTube experience via Viera Link is quite good.
Overall a fantastic TV with a picture quality you won't be able to exceed without spending at least twice as much.

Own a bar and installed a 42" 720 dpi Panasonic 4 years ago and was quite happy with it so I upgraded the old Mitsubishi 32" at home with the 46" G10 based upon the bar experience and CNET reviews. Went out and bought a Saunders do it yourself stand(2 hours assembly time but no divorce) for $149 and the wife and I installed the G10 ourselves. At the same time I upgraded our Direct DVR receiver at no charge as we have been customers for over 10 years. I have no complaints with the G10. I watch lots of sports and the MSNBC financial station which has a plethora of graphics all around the edge of the screen and the clarity of the print is excellent. 2 windows in the room, one almost behind the set and another on the left wall as you face the screen and no bothersome reflections. Watched the Lions last Sunday but the beautiful picture didn't improve the team.
Rented a house in Florida for 2 months last year and it had about the same size Sony Bravia XBR. I think the picture on the Panasonic is better, although, in fairness to Sony, I don't know how old it was.
