HDTV is easy. Home-Theater sound systems used to be hard but Panasonic has made it easier than pie (ready-made pie). Blu-ray extends beyond HDTV in sound. HDTV has 5.1-channel ability but Blu-Ray offers 7.1 channels. The SC-BT200 boasts seven speakers to envelop viewers in a remarkably true-to-life surround sound experience. The front and center channel speakers are made with a bamboo diaphragm which provides a tightly intertwined fiber to deliver greater rigidity and accuracy, resulting in clear reproduction of sounds over a wide frequency range, from massive explosions to metallic clangs. The subwoofer features a Kelton system with a dual diameter structure to deliver a deep powerful bass. The Smart Set-up guide uses the help of GUI navigation to allow users to set up their SC-BT200 home-theater system for optimum performance. The result is being able to stay at home while enjoying a thrilling, incredibly lifelike audio performance that rivals a movie theater. The appeal of Panasonic Blu-ray products goes beyond the breathtaking pictures and sound; the networking functions open the door to new kinds of entertainment fun. The SC-BT200 can connect to the Internet for downloading bonus content available with Blu-ray Discs and for playing Internet games via BD-Live. This connectivity is further enhanced with the addition of VIERA-Cast. VIERA-Cast integrates the Amazon Video-on-Demand (VOD) online movie rental service. The Amazon VOD service joins other content options already available on VIERA-Cast, including videos from You Tube, access to online photos via Picasa Web Albums, financial information from Bloomberg News, as well as local weather updates. The possibilities are virtually endless. It comes with a Universal Dock for iPod, making it easy for iPod users to play their favorite music or video downloads. This system is also Green-friendly. It has a power-save mode to protect the green.

I did quite a bit of shopping around and for the price, you can't beat this system!! Very rich full sound, clear as a new brass bell. Internet connectivity, Ipod dock built in, this system is wonderful. The one issue I have with this system is the same issue I have had with previous Panasonic systems, that silly proprietory plug on the chincy speaker wires provided. I have spent the money to get good, oxygen free 12 guage copper speaker wire to replace theirs, and I will have to do good soldering to attach the appropriate wire to the plugs, but I do tend to be a bit retentive. Of course I knew this is how it would be going in, but Panasonic is a great brand despite this one issue. Still all in all, a novice could set up this system in a manor of minutes and enjoy great sound right out of the box. If your going to invest in a great 1080 system, don't short the sound and, for the money, I couldn't find a better system with all the features out there.

We were disappointed when setting up in our family room. Replacing a 10+ year old Denon receiver and Bose speakers. It made us realize that the old system was actually still pretty good. The Panasonic sound system was weak and sounded like tin cans. We tried different settings, but never happy. We went back to our old system.
Rather than return, we setup in our Master Bedrooom. A smaller room, it works better and an improvement from the TV's speakers. That also upgraded that room's DVD to Blu-ray. More expensive than we had planned, but it works.

This DVD surround sound functioned as expected. I was looking for a decent priced all in one system. I'm not a deep into video/audio user. I have other Panosonic equipment and have been pleased with the quality and functionality. So far I have been pleased with this system. I did as much research and reviews on this as I could find on the net before I bought it. The sound quality is better than I expected. I have it attached to a Samsung LCD via HDMI and the integration works well enough. It automatically switches the TV to the DVD HDMI input when a DVD is inserted and mutes the TV speakers. When I switch the TV back to my digital TV service the TV speakers come back on. I haven't tried to program one of my remotes to manage the DVD player yet (not sure I will either) so I can't comment on that. The FM tuner works well and I get good reception even in my basement location. The internet connection function is a nice add-on for me but having wireless connectivity instead of wired would be nice. Fortunately my router is near the location of my TV. There are a whole lot of wires to connect (8 speakers, antenas, HDMI to TV, audio from cable or TV, network, maybe more - I forget) but the instructions and color coding made it pretty clear.

I bouht the system last Friday ( 10/30/09). Everything was excellent, until i updated the last firmware (1.5)on 10/31/2009. Since that i cant play music CDs, the message that appear reads "This operation is not available". i wrote an email to Panasonic Support Center about this, and i,m still waiting.
