I studied as many reviews as I could and finally selected this TV. I had started out planning to get an LCD or LED. I am glad I selected this one. The picture is all I could ask for.
If I had one concern, it was the folks who delivered the TV. When I first considered this I was told the Amazon had the"white glove" delivery where it would be set up, for a fee. I was willing to do that , but when I purchased mine, that servce was not available. The folks who delivered mine had only one concern, and that was to get out as soon as they could. I told them they were suppose to at least turn it on to be sure it worked. They did not even want to take it out of the box, but reluctantly did. They turned it on and said ," there it works", and left as quickly as they could. They said they do not take the box and they sure don't help me lift it up to the table.
But, getting back to the TV, its the best and I sure would select it again.

Just got this TV on Thursday and adjusted the settings according to the CNET review. I use the THX mode to watch Blu-ray through my PS3, and the picture quality is jaw dropping. I did a lot of research before deciding on this TV, and I couldn't have made a better choice. The deep black levels and high contrast ratio reveal the faintest details and really make everything seem so real and life like, something LCD TVs are struggling to replicate. I have also spent a lot of time playing games through Xbox360 which is connected through the component input, and I think I am going to replay my old games again because it just looks so darn good. If you want a big TV with the best picture quality possible without breaking your bank, I would recommend this one without any reservation.

I have been searching for a new TV (already owned a 46" 1080p mitsubishi) to replace my first 2002 Toshiba 4:3 rear-projection HDTV. I narrowed it down to Samsung LED LCD, Sony XBR, LG LED LCD. Then I noticed all the improved blackness and 240 Hz refresh rate are all trying to match up with plasma performance. I started looking for Pioneer Kuro and even it is being discontinued, it is still too expensive for my budget. Further research led me to Panasonic especially the G10 series. I saw it in person at Fry's and Best Buy and I was very impressed with the PQ. AVS forum also posted some really good reviews. I even followed the break-in routine as posted on the forum.
After the break-in, I tweaked the TV settings based on some of the settings posted on AVS forum and I have not regret a bit with the purchase. I paid 1600 and Amazon provided the white glove service with a bonus Panasonic bluray player which I sold it on Craigslist for $140. So I actually paid $1460 for the TV and I just loved the TV.
There is only 1 thing that I would pick on is that the 3:2 pull down does not always work. My IPTV have some weird aspect ratio which does not work well the panny tv. Other than that, I have nothing but high praises for this TV. The color is accurate and vivid and the black is very impressive. I cannot justify paying more for the Pioneer kuro just for incremental improvement.
The TV is loaded with features such as SD card slot, ethernet connection so you can see youtube, picassa and other websites directly from the menu.
If you are like me who wants the most bang for the buck, this is one hack of a 54" flat panel TV that you can purchase today without breaking the bank.

I have been an owner of a Sharp Aquos 42" LCD for 2 years now. I liked the Sharp well enough but I wanted a larger screen. I spent a good deal of time reading reviews and researching 50+ inch LCD's and Plasma's.
I had read a lot of discussions regarding potential issues with plasma screens which concerned me. However, my brother-in-law owns a Pioneer Elite plasma and has had it for several years. He had never seen any of the problems which are supposed to occur with plasma. In addition an acquaintance of mine gave plasma a big thumbs up over LCD. The acquaintance installs high end audio/video systems for people that have unlimited funds for their home theaters. They even fly him around the country to have him inspect their systems when they go from home to home. His view is that plasma looks more life like than anything LCD can hope to be. So based on the above I purchased the Panasonic Viera 54" plasma.
I was bowled over with the picture. Clear, gorgeous and sharp video. I can't say enough about the quality of the picture. Beyond belief comes to mind.
Delivery was fast, the company called a few days ahead of time (on a sunday no less) and scheduled delivery within a 4 hour time block for Tuesday. The delivery date was a few days prior to expected based on tracking which was nice. The delivery guys brought the box in, opened it up, put the set on it's base and set it where I wanted. They plugged in the appropriate HDMI cable from my ATT UVerse box, checked video and audio, handed me the remote, asked for my signature and departed. All in all very professional.
There were no problems I could detect with the set and was quite pleased from the very start.
Setup was easy. Internet, for example, started immediately on it's own after plugging in the Cat 5 cable. I was perusing Amazon videos on the internet within a couple of minutes.
I will update this as time goes on if there is anything else to report, but for now I'm very happy with the purchase. Nice job to Panasonic, Amazon and the delivery company.
